/Problem

Handling one order by hand cost more than a subscription starting at PLN 59 a month brought in over its first few months. AlertMe was being sold on a model built for premises security contracts, so an enquiry from the site landed in the office and an employee verified the identity, took the contract, raised the payment and created the app account. The commission was to build a path leading from choosing a plan to a working app account with no employee involved, together with an operator panel for handling orders and an editable map of patrol zones.

/Approach

We started from the points where a buyer walks away. The path then sent people out to outside providers twice, once to confirm their identity and once for an electronic signature. Those are the two most common points of abandonment, and both are now gone from the path. The customer ticks the consent box on the spot, and the record shows when it was given and against which version of the terms, so there is something to show if it is ever disputed. Everything else rests on a single rule, that nobody from outside can alter the amount due or mark an order as paid.

/Solution

Seven steps take the order from choosing a plan through to activation, and the same window works on all eight pages of the site. No app account is created without a positive verification. Once the payment clears, the order turns active on its own and every verified person on it gets their own login. Each night the system settles extra patrol call-outs on the saved card. An operator opens a customer's documents through a link that lasts ten minutes. Securand corrects the patrol zone borders itself in the map editor and sends back the finished file to be put on the site.

/Result

AlertMe now sells without the office, with the buyer paying on the site and signing into the app minutes later. An order placed on a Saturday evening is active the next morning instead of waiting for Monday. Before selling started, the whole order path went through a security review of its own, and every fix was confirmed by trying to get around it on the working system.
