/Problem
The whole running of the shop rests with one person, who packs, takes orders and answers customers, and until now every order had to be dealt with at a computer. Both sides of the same shop were to move onto a phone. Buyers got a shop built for the phone screen, with the checkout and the payment on the shop's own side. On the other side sits a sales tool that installs onto the home screen, covering the full cycle, from the alert about a cleared payment to a finished courier label.
/Approach
Both parts run in a browser, bypassing the app stores, and the sales tool additionally installs onto the phone home screen. A fix therefore ships the same day, without waiting on a store review, and the owner has no updates to keep track of. Payment was kept entirely on the shop's own side, because moving a buyer to another domain at the moment of paying is a common point of basket abandonment. The sales tool was walled off, so there is no way into it from the public side of the shop.
/Solution
Payment stays in the shop, by BLIK, bank transfer or card, on the same page where the order was put together. The buyer picks a parcel locker from a map, and the checkout fields hold the phone number to the format the carrier requires, so a label is not rejected at despatch. A cleared payment sets off a notification on the owner's phone. The alert always stands for an order already paid for, never an abandoned basket. Tapping the alert opens the order list with the newest at the top, and the whole despatch then runs from the order's own screen. The owner enters the parcel size and pulls an InPost label as a printable file, and when the goods do not fit in one parcel, further ones are added to the order. The catalogue and the promotions have screens of their own, and customer reviews are shown or hidden with a switch.
/Result
Day-to-day running of the shop now happens from a phone. From the alert about a paid order to a finished label is a few taps, with no computer involved. Prices, promotions, descriptions and reviews are changed by the owner on the same screen. One switch closes the shop and opens it again. Before launch the site went through a compliance review, after which marketing consents meet GDPR requirements and customer data is secured against access from outside.
